  Dr. Peter Laurberg is Prof of Medicine and Endocrinology and Head of the Department of Medicine and Endocrinology of the University Hospital in Aalborg Denmark. His main research is in the thyroid field and includes clinical thyroidology in particular. He studied many aspects of thyroid hormone synthesis and secretion by the dog thyroid, thyroid hormone metabolism in humans, treatment of thyroid diseases, the relationship between thyroid diseases and pregnancy, iodine intake by the population and its relationship to thyroid diseases. He served as member of the Executive Committee of the European Thyroid Association and is currently a member of its Professional Affairs Group. He an internationally recognized thyroid investigator.
